İlköğretim Matematik Öğretmeni Adaylarının Matematik Felsefesi Dersine İlişkin Görüşleri
Abstract
The aim of this article is to determine the views of twelve pre-service elementary mathematics teachers on the philosophy of mathematics course. The study was conducted in the faculty of education of a state university in the spring semester of the 2011-2012 academic year, using a semi-structured interview form comprised of six open-ended questions. The data obtained from the interviews subjected to content analysis by forming codes and categories and subsequently interpreting the data according to these codes. It was found that the participants generally had positive opinions on the philosophy of mathematics course and that it should be included as part of an undergraduate program in teacher education.
