Ortaokul Matematik Öğretmenlerinin Matematik Derslerinde Akıllı Tahta Kullanımına İlişkin Görüşleri

Abstract

Within the scope of Movement of Enhancing Opportunities and Improving Technology (FATİH) Project, among the technological tools smart board use in classrooms has become widespread. Therefore, how this technological tool located in the classrooms will be used in teaching is an important issue. In this context, the aim of the study is to identify the views of secondary school mathematics teachers about the smart board use in mathematics education. The study has been designed as a phenomenological research which is a qualitative design. In order to obtain detailed information and rich data, criterion sampling strategy as a purposive sampling type has been used. The participants are chosen among the secondary school mathematics teachers who are willing to participate in the study, are convenient to reach and have experience with smart boards. The study group of this research consists of 5 secondary school mathematics teachers from different private schools. The data were collected through semistructured interviews. The result of the content analysis revealed four recurring themes. These were identified as a) the purpose of using smart boards to teach mathematics, b) the advantages of using smart boards, c) the disadvantages of using smart boards, and d) suggestions on the use of smart boards. In the light of the findings, certain suggestions were provided to teacher educators, secondary school mathematics teachers, and the researchers in the field.
