FeTeMM Eğitiminde Bilim Tarihi Uygulamaları: El-Cezeri Örneği
Abstract
Today in every field, the need for qualified individuals who have the 21st century skills is often emphasized. In order to meet this need, STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) education approach has emerged. The related research shows that there is a necessity for STEM education reform in Turkey. In this study, first, information regarding the 21st century skills and STEM education which aims to educate qualified individuals is presented, and then STEM components has been comparatively examined both in Turkish science curriculum and in the history of science. Finally, some selected examples from the history of science have been examined with the aim of using them as STEM activities in classrooms. Proposed examples have been chosen from Al-Jazari's (1136-1206) inventions.
