Abstract

Adolescence refers to a period of fast and continuous development and change. In this period, young people are perceived as neither adults nor children by adults who take their responsibilities. While experiencing a rapid change, young people try to adapt to this change. It is extremely important for young people to complete this process in the healthiest way possible for personality development. The adolescents who have learned how to deal with these changes in their body can easily adapt to these changes, and solve the problems they experience in this period, and gain their sexual identity in an easier way. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of sexual and reproductive health education on adolescents. In this experimental research, pretest-post test control group design was used and a total of 42 young people participated in the study with 21 participants in the experimental group and 21 in the control group. The data were collected through “Sexual and Reproductive Health Checklist” developed by the researcher. In the experimental group, “Sexual and Reproductive Health Training Program” was applied for ten weeks. For the analysis of the data, the experimental group’s pretest scores were compared with “Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test” and for the significance of difference of scores, “Mann Whitney U Test” was used. The findings indicate that as a result of Sexual and Reproductive Health Training Program, there is a meaningful increase in the level of sexual and reproductive health knowledge of young people.
